Larry J. Stoehr, a bicyclist who was seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash on November 14 at the intersection of Claremont Avenue NE and San Mateo Boulevard NE, has died from his injuries. The crash, initially reported as near-fatal, resulted in a tragic loss of life.

To mark the location of the fatal crash and honor Stoehr’s life, the Duke City Wheelmen will install a ghost bike memorial at the site. The installation will take place on Friday, December 26, at 2:00 p.m., at the intersection of Claremont Ave NE and San Mateo Blvd NE.

Ghost bikes are white-painted bicycles placed at locations where people riding bicycles have been killed. They serve both as memorials to those lost and as stark reminders of the human cost of traffic violence, while calling attention to the ongoing need for safer streets for all road users.

Our thoughts are with Larry’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
