We have momentum — and we need your help to keep it going.

SB 73 (Driver’s Ed Requirements) passed the New Mexico Senate on Saturday and is now moving to the House. The bill has been referred to the House Transportation, Public Works & Capital Improvements Committee, and it is scheduled for a hearing tomorrow, February 17 at 9:00 a.m.

Now is the time to act.

📣 What We Need You to Do

Please email members of the House Transportation, Public Works & Capital Improvements Committee today and ask them to vote “Do Pass” on SB 73.

SB 73 would require New Mexico driver education to include training on safely interacting with vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists — an important step toward safer streets statewide.

A short message is all that’s needed. You can simply:

  • State that you are a constituent (if applicable)

  • Ask them to vote “Do Pass” on SB 73

  • Share why safer streets matter to you

If you can attend the meeting and speak in support of the bill, that would be dynamite! In-person attendance will be in Rm. 309 at 9:00am tomorrow.

Legislators pay attention when they hear directly from the public — especially before a committee vote.

Thank you for your continued advocacy. Your calls and emails helped move SB 73 through the Senate, and your outreach now can help move it forward in the House.
