About 40 new bike racks are coming to businesses along San Pedro, thanks to a $17,500 AARP grant awarded to the Revitalize San Pedro Partnership. BikeABQ endorsed the successful grant application and is looking for members interested in helping with the project’s bike audit.
New Bike Racks Coming to San Pedro

The Revitalize San Pedro Partnership (RSPP) is a nonprofit organization that grew out of a coalition formed more than a decade ago by four adjoining neighborhood associations and local business leaders. RSPP focuses on preserving and improving the San Pedro Main Street corridor, which stretches between I-40 and Central Avenue.
RSPP recently received $17,500 from AARP to install approximately 40 bike racks at San Pedro businesses over the next six months. The project is guided by two ideas: “Bikes Mean Business” and “Every Bike Rack is a Welcome Mat.” The goal is to make it easier for people to arrive by bike while encouraging local businesses to welcome bicycling customers.
BikeABQ provided a letter of endorsement for RSPP’s successful grant application, and we’ll be working with RSPP as the project gets underway. The first step will be an introductory bike audit to help identify opportunities and make recommendations for the placement of the new racks.
