Help shape the future of bicycling in Albuquerque.


BikeABQ is seeking volunteers who are passionate about making bicycling in Albuquerque safe and accessible for everyone.


As a member of the BikeABQ board, you will help lead the organization by setting priorities, supporting advocacy efforts, organizing community events, building partnerships, and ensuring the nonprofit operates effectively.

BikeABQ is an all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. Our board is a working board, meaning every board member plays an active role in carrying out the organization's programs, events, advocacy, and day-to-day operations.


How to Apply


To be considered, please submit the following:

  • A current resume

  • A letter of interest explaining why you'd like to serve on the BikeABQ Board and what skills, experience, or perspectives you would bring

Applicants should also be available to attend our Board Meeting on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 5:45 PM at Juno Brewery, 1501 1st Street NW, Albuquerque, 87102, where candidates will have an opportunity to meet the Board of Directors and participate in the interview process.

Board Member Responsibilities


Board members are expected to:

  • Attend monthly Board Meetings (first Tuesday of each month at 5:45 PM) and Membership Meetings that follow.

  • Serve on at least one committee (Advocacy, Events, Communications, or Operations), which meets monthly via Google Meet at 7:00pm on a specific Tuesday or Thursday.

  • Take an active role in projects, events, advocacy campaigns, fundraising, partnerships, or organizational operations.

  • Help represent BikeABQ in the community and support our mission.

  • Work collaboratively with fellow board members and volunteers.


Time Commitment


Board members should expect to volunteer approximately 5–10 hours per week, with additional time during major events or while getting oriented.


Who We're Looking For


We welcome applicants from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences. Whether you primarily ride for transportation, recreation, fitness, or advocacy—or simply believe Albuquerque should be a better place to bike—we encourage you to apply.

  • Are passionate about bicycling, transportation, or creating safer streets, and making cities more livable.

  • Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Are dependable and willing to follow through on commitments.

  • Bring skills, perspectives, or lived experiences that strengthen our organization.

  • Are excited to contribute their time and talents to a working board.

We value a Board that reflects the diversity of Albuquerque and welcome applicants with a broad range of experiences, perspectives, and backgrounds.
