The City of Albuquerque has announced a final public open house for the Buena Vista Bike Boulevard Project. Community members are invited to review the final design plans, learn about the proposed improvements, discuss next steps with City staff, and provide feedback before the project moves forward.
The proposed Buena Vista Bike Boulevard will extend from Gibson Boulevard to Central Avenue and is designed to create a safer, more comfortable route for people walking and bicycling. Planned improvements include traffic calming measures and three new mid-block crossings with half signals at Gibson Boulevard, Avenida César Chavez, and Central Avenue. These crossings will make it easier and safer for people to cross some of the corridor's busiest streets.
BikeABQ is especially excited to see this project advancing because it was identified as a very high-priority project in the 2024 Bikeway and Trail Facilities Plan. The project represents an important step toward expanding Albuquerque's low-stress bicycle network and improving safety for people of all ages and abilities.
