Albuquerque Public Schools has been awarded $2.7 million in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All program to improve safety for students walking to and from school. The funding will support APS’s Vision Zero for Youth efforts, including planning, data analysis, and on-the-ground safety programs.

District leaders estimate the grant could support up to 50 Walking School Bus programs, helping reduce traffic dangers near schools while encouraging physical activity and community connection.
