Bicycle Friendly State Public Survey

August 24, 2026 at 3:31:20 PM

For the first time, the League of American Bicyclists is including a public survey as part of its Bicycle Friendly State program. The survey asks people to share their experiences and perspectives on bicycling in their state, and the responses will help inform the League’s state rankings.

If you bike in New Mexico, consider taking the survey and sharing your perspective. The survey is open through September 14.

The League notes that the public survey is only one part of the ranking process: about 90% of each state’s ranking is based on a survey completed by the state Department of Transportation. So while the League encourages people and organizations to share the public survey, a larger number of responses does not necessarily mean a higher state ranking.
