Bike Swap Volunteers

The bike swap is our major volunteer event.  There are a lot of fun jobs to be done from check-in, sales, parking and much more.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and would like to learn more contact Julie at jluna@tvi.edu or call 224-3454. If you're already slated to volunteer, please click here for detailed information about your duties.

In May 2005 BikeABQ hosted the 11th Annual Albuquerque Bike Swap. Every year just gets bigger and better. The Swap usually begins at 10 am and runs until 3:30 pm, but most of the good parts and sweet deals are gone long before noon. Usually ~50% of the items sell in the first three hours, so come early.

All the gear sold gets checked-in the Friday before the Swap, usually from 10am to 7 pm. Sport Systems and BikeABQ personnel help with check-in and are available to help you price your used gear. If you are selling gear, you will get 83% of your asking price after the item sells. BikeABQ will be the beneficiary of the net proceeds after expenses from the Swap, this is an important fundraiser to run BikeABQ's programs. You can also donate items and get a tax-deduction. And when its all said and done, you can pick up your earnings or your unsold items after 3PM on Saturday.

There always are all types of bicycles: Road, Mountain, BMX, kids bikes, tandems, and bike trailers. Plus there are tables full of gear and racks of wheel, tires, and rims.

Riding a bicycle is a great way to reduce your impact on the environment and boost your health and fitness at the same time, so if you haven't ridden a bicycle in a while, come out and talk with us.

The 2005 Bike Swap at Sports Systems was a HUGE event with hundreds of bikes and bicyclists.
