Smart Growth America has partnered with Reconnecting America and a dozen other organizations to launch Transportation for America, a campaign to ensure that Congress passes a transportation bill next year to provide us with a 21st century transportation system and make a final break with the 1950's policy - when gas was a nickel and federal policy was "all roads, all the time."  Does that sound like something you want to support? Complete Streets

Complete Streets are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. Pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and bus riders of all ages and abilities are able to safely move along and across a complete street.

House The Safe and Complete Streets Act of 2008 (H.R. 5951) was introduced by Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-5) on May 1st in the House of Representatives. The bill is co-sponsored by Representatives Earl Blumenauer (OR-3), Steve Cohen (TN-9), Barbara Lee (CA-9) and Lynn Woolsey (CA-6). Tell your representative to sign on to and/or support this legislation. See below for Representatives information.

Senate The Complete Streets Act of 2008 (S. 2686) was introduced in the Senate by Senators Tom Harkin (IA) and Tom Carper (DE). It is co-sponsored by Senators Norm Coleman (MN), Richard Durbin (IL) and Bernard Sanders (VT) Tell your Senators to sign on and/or support this legislation. See below for contact information.
